4- the flow
You will have to arrange a flow to be able to empty the pond. The drain pipe should be placed at the foot of the dike at the lower end of your pond, in its deepest part.
The drain pipe can be made of a big bamboo rod or a plastic pipe, it should be about 10 cm in diameter. Since the dam is much wider at the bottom than at the top, the drain pipe should be longer than the inlet pipe. It will measure approximately 6.50 m long.
If you use a drain pipe about 10 cm in diameter, it will take you about 10 hours to empty a pond of 400 square meters.
It is easier to place the drain pipe at the chosen location before digging the center of the pond and building the dike.
Improve exhaust by placing a vertical pipe at the end of the outlet, using an L-shaped or T-shaped device, close the T-pipe with a plug.
The top end of the vertical pipe should be about 3 cm to 5 cm above the water level of your pond. If the water rises too much, the overflow will go through the vertical pipe.
Attach the upright pipe to a ground stake so that it does not slip on the ground and the pond empties unintentionally. When you want to drain the water, detach the vertical pipe and lower it. The water of the pond will flow.
Another type of flow : the monk (we will see it in a next chapter)
