1- Pond: choice of the location
Choix de l’emplacement :
It is better to choose a sloping ground for the construction of your pond (but not an obligation) but avoid imperatively a flood zone. Your pond must be near a watercourse or water source. This water supply must be located higher than the pond so that the water will flows naturally in it.
Soil quality :
It is very easy to test it :
– Take a handful of soil, compress it into a ball, throw the ball if it remains compact when you catch it, its that the ground is suitable for the construction of a pond.
– Dig a hole (up to the waist) in the morning fill it with water, in the evening a certain amount of water will have infiltrated into the ground, fill again the water hole to the edge then cover the hole (branches or others) then the next morning check the level if the height is consistent, it’s that the soil holds enough water so it is quite waterproof.
These are simple things to check, but not to neglect.
